Macarena Ramos Hernández

Interdisciplinary Artist 
 

Macarena Ramos-Hernández (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has worked in multiple teaching artist companies in New York City, including City Center Encores!, Illuminart Productions, Culture for One, and Naked Angels 3T Company. She holds multiple credits as an actor and director in New York City. Macarena also works as a freelance filmmaker and video editor. Currently, Macarena will be relocating to London, UK to pursue a creative career. 

Macarena is very passionate about arts for social change and making art accessible for all communities. She has a BFA in Acting with a double concentration in directing from Marymount Manhattan College and an MA from New York University Gallatin for a degree in Arts for social justice, human rights, and education with a focus on documentary filmmaking and performing arts. She has created, written, directed, and edited multiple documentaries. Macarena’s artistic work tends to center around the concept of “home.” Through poetic writing, she explores what it means to live in “la diaspora.”
